Let me preface this by saying that I am very happily married. Below is what I would assume might be the issues in an honest assessment in the video ππ
Dating apps can be a great way to meet people and make connections. Unfortunately, they aren't always easy to navigate - especially for older men.
For those of us who are βover the hillβ and inching closer towards the grave, it's hard to connect with people in the same age range. You're probably looking for someone who is actually younger than you - but at the same time not too young! After all, you don't want to look like a creepy old man just trying to get with every 20-something on the app.
The search feature can be daunting considering most app algorithms seem to prioritize younger users. Sure, you can filter your desired age range, but somehow the pool of potential dates still seems too small. Plus, how many times have you gotten matches that were "suggested" by an algorithm only to be immediately blocked? It's a real bummer when you never even get the chance to talk or find out what that person was about.
Online dating also brings out some of the worst traits in ourselves: We become overly selective, judgmental and even superficial at times. But then again we shouldn't judge others too harshly - after all, if we met them in person would we really care about their height or goatee anyway?
Last but not least there's always this feeling of frustration when it comes to using dating apps as an older person: Is this really what I have left? Do I really have no other options now? Despite these worries though, there are plenty of success stories out there and hoping for one yourself isn't necessarily a bad thing either!
In conclusion, while it may not always be easy going on dating apps as an older man they do present some unique opportunities that weren't available before. Hopefully this honest assessment has shed light on just how challenging - yet rewarding - it can be
