Bachelor Party (1984) is the quintessential '80s comedy that delivers outrageous humour and wild antics with a side of the heart. Directed by Neal Israel, this film captures the chaos and hilarity of a bachelor party spiralling out of control. Starring a young Tom Hanks in one of his early comedic roles, Bachelor Party is a no-holds-barred romp that remains a cult favourite for fans of raunchy, over-the-top comedies.

Tom Hanks plays Rick Gassko, a fun-loving bus driver about to marry the woman of his dreams, Debbie (Tawny Kitaen). But before he can say “I do,” Rick’s buddies insist on throwing him the most epic bachelor party imaginable. What follows is a night of debauchery filled with strippers, donkeys, and all sorts of mayhem, pushing the boundaries of decency and delivering laugh after laugh.

Hanks’ charm and comedic timing shine as the lovable, slightly clueless groom-to-be trying to keep his life from falling apart amid the insanity. The supporting cast, including Adrian Zmed as Rick’s best friend Jay and Michael Dudikoff as Debbie’s uptight ex-boyfriend Cole, add to the film’s zany energy, making every scene a wild ride. While the humour is definitely on the raunchy side, there’s an underlying sweetness to Rick’s commitment to Debbie that grounds the film in a surprising sincerity.

Bachelor Party isn’t trying to be anything more than a good time, and it absolutely succeeds. It’s a snapshot of '80s comedy at its most uninhibited, where nothing goes and is off-limits.
